Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 2000 allows you to access information held by public bodies. Using the Act you can request information from Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and you are entitled to be told whether the Trust has it and, if so, to be supplied with the information, in accordance with certain conditions and subject to exemptions.

It also indicates whether there may be exemptions or charges for supplying the information.

Requesting Information

The information you are seeking may be may be available on this website. Our publication scheme also provides details on our services and the type of information we routinely publish. If you don’t find what you are looking for you can formally request the information from the Trust.

An individual’s access to their patient records is still covered by the Data Protection Act so no personal information of this sort will be published. The Data Protection Act 1998 allows you to find out what information we may hold about you on computer and in certain paper records.

We do not charge for supplying information under the Freedom of Information Act, only if the authority estimates that the cost of complying with the request would exceed the appropriate limits as stated in the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Section 12-(1).

If you would like to see your health records or obtain copies of them please send your request

When will my request be answered?

Once we receive your request we will aim to respond within 20 working days. If we exceed this time limit we will explain the reasons for our delay and estimate how long it will take to meet your request.

Our response will firstly state whether or not we hold the information you require. If we have the information we will send it to you providing it is not subject to exemption under the FOI Act. Information subject to exemption may include information accessible to you by other means or personal information. A full list of exemptions can be obtained via this link.  If we are unable to supply the information to you because of exemptions we will explain why this is the case and let you know of any other steps you may be entitled to take to access the information.

Model Publication Scheme

The Trust already makes a lot of information available to the public. In order to help people to find this, we are required, under the Freedom of Information Act, to produce a Publication Scheme. The Publication Scheme does not list each document that the Trust publishes but provides details of the types of information we publish.

Our Publication Scheme has been approved by the Information Commissioner, who is responsible for enforcing the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts.

Within this section you will find information relating to the Model Publication Scheme.  All information within this site has been grouped in the following areas below.

Clicking onto the headings below will take you to page with links to all relevant pages which correspond to that heading.
