We became a Foundation Trust in August 2006. This entitles patients, public and staff to join us as members. As a Foundation Trust we continue to be part of the NHS family with the primary purpose to provide healthcare services, however we are no longer run by the Government. We are accountable to our local community, allowing staff and local people to influence how the hospital is run.
You can play a part in this process by becoming a member. We currently have over 12,000 public members both from the Salford area and the wider North-West region. Our members receive regular updates about what is going on about the Trust through our quarterly members’ newsletter – The Loop.
You will also be able to take part in the engagement activities which we organise throughout the year such as focus groups, consultation and surveys. These are a key way for us to learn what is important to you and how you would like us to develop our services. We also host informative sessions presented by health professionals on a range of topics to keep you up to date with important information about your health.
The Trust has a Council of Governors, 12 of whom are elected by our members to represent the Salford wards and patients from outside the Salford area. As a member you will be able to vote in elections and even stand for election as a governor for your area.
Becoming a member is a great way to show support to your local hospital as well as the community services the Trust provides, and you will have a greater say in the running of the organisation to help make sure we deliver the best possible healthcare to the people of Salford and beyond, sign up to become a member below.
It's completely up to you how involved you want to be, we value any input you have able to offer.
