Your Opinion Counts - Members' Engagement

Members Engagement

We believe that listening to patients, public and members and using this feedback helps us improve services.

The involvement of patients and the public is an essential part of providing services that meet the needs of the communities we serve.

We engage with patients and the public on a regular basis both formally and informally.

We use many ways to talk to the communities we serve. This will include surveys, focus groups, public meetings and other engagement.

Take a look at how you can get involved and remember you can provide feedback to your Governor any time.

Current Opportunities for Involvement

Looking Harder: Thinking Differently

A series of public debates about how we think and feel about skin

We would like to invite you to join us at a debate and informal discussion about skin and skin health in spring this year.

The University of Manchester Centre for Dermatology Research based here at Salford Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) has been working with artist Daksha Patel and a small group of patients, doctors, student doctors and art history students to produce drawings, photographs and written notes about how the group feels about skin and how we represent skin.

The material from our workshops will form a short slide presentation that we hope will spark off more thoughts and debate from our local patients and supporters here at SRFT. We are therefore looking for participants to join us on our ‘Debate Afternoons’ (see below for dates) so we can continue this dialogue and gather more ideas.

The 90 minute meetings will be informal and fun! If you have an interest in skin health, how art has been used inside the hospital or want to know more about the Centre for Dermatology Research then please join us to share your ideas. Light refreshments will be provided.

The debates will help us to develop some important resources for young people to use in school; looking at the cross overs between art and science.  The information you share with us will also help us to develop training courses for dermatologists.

We have two sessions for people to attend

Thursday 10th May 2018 – 1:30pm – 3pm in Humphrey Booth Lecture Theatre 2, Level 1, Mayo Building

The closing date for applications is 8th May 2018 and informal interviews will take place on the 22nd May 2018.

Have your say on MSK/Orthopaedic services

A Greater Manchester hospital service review is currently taking place. There is a team involving doctors, patients and other healthcare staff from across the region working together to make the Musculoskeletal/Orthopaedic Service the best it can be and to make it sustainable and affordable for the future.

We would be grateful if you could spend a few minutes to complete a survey to help us understand how you feel about the hospital based services for Musculoskeletal/Orthopaedics that you (or a friend/relative) have used in Greater Manchester and ask how you think they could be improved. Your opinions will help identify what is important to patients and what needs to be considered from a patient perspective in the design of any future services.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and will not affect any services you are currently receiving. This is about you helping us to plan future services.

If you would like a paper version, require an alternative format/language, or have any questions about the survey please contact Usman Nawaz or Louise Parkin at the NHS Transformation Unit (0161 9670300). The survey will close at midnight Sunday 27th May 2018.

To complete the survey go to www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/GMortho
