Your Opinion Counts - Members' Engagement

Members Engagement

We believe that listening to patients, public and members and using this feedback helps us improve services.

The involvement of patients and the public is an essential part of providing services that meet the needs of the communities we serve.

We engage with patients and the public on a regular basis both formally and informally.

We use many ways to talk to the communities we serve. This will include surveys, focus groups, public meetings and other engagement.

Take a look at how you can get involved and remember you can provide feedback to your Governor any time.

Current Opportunities for Involvement

Public and Patient Involvement Opportunities - Designing health services in Greater Manchester

The NHS Transformation Unit is supporting the Greater Manchester (GM) Health and Social Care Partnership to improve services for patients across GM, and is seeking the views of patients, carers and members of the public in the development and redesign of various services.

Below are a number of projects and opportunities for you to get involved.

Redesigning Breast Services in Greater Manchester

The Greater Manchester Breast Services Transformation Project is reviewing hospital based breast services in Greater Manchester to make them the best they can possibly be and to make them affordable for the future. We would be grateful if you would consider taking part in a survey to help identify what is important to patients and what needs to be considered from a patient (or carer) perspective in the design of any future services.

Completing the survey takes about ten minutes and it can be accessed via the following link: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/GMbreastprojectserviceuserquestionnaire

Greater Manchester Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS+) Project

The ERAS+ Programme supports patients to make changes to their daily lifestyle in the weeks leading up to surgery and make sure their body is prepared. Preparing the body for surgery will allow patients to get back to daily activity sooner and help to reduce problems after surgery.

ERAS+ Patient Representatives

We are inviting anyone with experience (as a patient or carer) of having undergone major surgery or due to undergo major surgery, to share their experience on the ERAS+ Steering Group (2 places available). You will be invited to attend a monthly meeting as a patient representative with project leads, clinicians and other service users.

ERAS+ Reader’s Panel

A Reader’s Panel is being set up to review patient information leaflets and test a mobile app for the ERAS+ programme. We are seeking your insight to ensure the leaflets and app are “patient and user friendly”. A meeting lasting up to two hours to review approximately five patient documents and the mobile app will take place at the end of February 2018 (date to be confirmed). You will have the opportunity to test the app on your own device in the week leading up to the meeting.

If you are interested in becoming an ERAS+ Patient Representative and/or getting involved with the ERAS+ Reader’s Panel, please email usman.nawaz@nhs.net or call 0161 967 0300 and ask for Usman Nawaz (Engagement Consultant TU) by Friday 23rd February 2018.
