Changing your appointment

Before your appointment

What do I do if I cannot attend my appointment?

If you are not able to attend your appointment, or need to change it to a more convenient time, it is vital that you let us know as soon as possible.  This will enable us to offer your appointment to another patient and rebook you another, more convenient time.

To cancel or change your appointment please use one of the following methods:

If you need to cancel or change a new patient appointment booked through the electronic booking system called Choose and Book you need to contact the national telephone appointment line on 0845 60 88 88 8 (between 7:00am – 10:00pm Mon–Sun excluding bank holidays).

What happens if I fail to attend my appointment?

It is important that you attend your appointment for your health and wellbeing.  If you fail to attend and have not told us, your hospital doctor will review your case notes and decide if a further appointment is required, or you may be discharged back to the care of your GP.  Patients who do not attend their appointment waste valuable hospital resources and can delay other patients from being seen.

Follow-up appointments

If you need to come back for a follow-up appointment the doctor will give you a form at the end of your consultation.  Please take this back to the clinic reception where you booked in and an appointment will usually be made for you while you wait.  If you are not able to wait, we will send you a letter informing you of your follow-up appointment date.
