Northern Care Alliance Governor Elections 2019

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group Council of Governors Elections open on 16 July and the organisation is looking for dedicated Trust members who are passionate about health and social care to join the council as public Governors.

Governors are the direct representatives of staff and public member interests. They play an important role in making sure that health and social care services continue to improve. Governor’s responsibilities include representing the interests of members and the public as a whole, contributing to future plans, holding non-executive directors to account for the performance of the Board and appointing the chairman and non-executive directors.

The Group’s Council of Governors is made up of 17 public Governors and 12 staff Governors who represent the interests of its 27,000 members and local communities. It comprises all Salford Royal Governors and elected shadow Governors from the Pennine Acute Trust constituencies (Oldham, Bury & Rochdale and North Manchester).

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group is holding elections for eight public Governor vacancies in the following public constituencies:

  • Salford (2 seats)
  • Rest of England and Wales (2 seats)
  • Bury & Rochdale (2 seats)

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group brings together five local hospitals, 2,000 beds, specialist and acute services and a range of community services from Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dave Pike, Lead Governor at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group said:

“Being a Governor is a great way to engage with your local community and ensure their views are being heard and considered in the Trust’s future plans. As a Governor I have been able to engage with patients and service users and help make a positive difference to their experience.”
