Media Requests

Interviews, statements, photography or filming

Requests regarding photography, filming, or interviews with staff or patients, must be made through our Communications Team – 0161 206 3133.

Anyone found filming or taking photographs without permission may be asked by Trust Security to leave the site immediately.

Patient confidentiality

We place great emphasis on the need for the strictest confidentiality in respect of our patients.

We will not divulge any information about a patient unless we are given express permission from the individual or their next of kin.

Requests for interviewing/photographing patients must be made through the Communications Team.  We will only facilitate contact with patients if they are currently a patient with us.

Condition checks

Condition checks will only be given out if you have at least the name, date of birth and address of the patient concerned and in cases where names have been officially released (e.g. by the Police).

The Trust’ s Communications Manager reserves the right to decline comment on any condition check if we so wish in respect of patient confidentiality.

Do not contact the wards directly.

During normal working hours please telephone us on 0161 206 3133. Outside these hours please telephone the switchboard on 0161 789 7373, say you are from the media and ask to speak to the Senior Manager On-call.

Photo Library

If you would like to obtain an image of Trust buildings or similar, please contact the Communications Team on 0161 206 3133.

Major incidents

Should a local, regional or national major incident occur, the Trust has contingency plans that include arrangements for the media.

A press centre will be established and the media will be notified on arrival at the hospital site. The press centre will be set up for press conferences and you will be given regular updates on the situation and the opportunity for interviews, if and when appropriate.

Depending on the type of incident, we will decide at the time whether photographs/filming will be permitted and how this will be facilitated.

We will also utilise this website and our Twitter account (@SalfordRoyalNHS) to provide the latest updates
