Media Requests

All media enquiries should be directed to the Communications Team, either by email or telephone.

Email: communications@srft.nhs.uk

Interviews, statements, photography or filming

Requests regarding photography, filming, or interviews with staff or patients, must be made through our Communications Team.  Anyone found filming or taking photographs without permission may be asked by Trust Security to leave the site immediately.

Patient confidentiality

We place great emphasis on the need for the strictest confidentiality in respect of our patients.

We will not divulge any information about a patient unless we are given express permission from the individual or their next of kin.

Requests for interviewing/photographing patients must be made through the Communications Team.  We will only facilitate contact with patients if they are currently a patient with us.

Infection Control

Film crews and photographers must follow infection control procedures rigorously, for example, thorough hand washing on entering and leaving clinical areas.

Condition checks

Condition checks will only be given out if you have at least the name, date of birth and address of the patient concerned and in cases where names have been officially released (e.g. by the Police).  The Trust’s Communications Manager reserves the right to decline comment on any condition check if we so wish in respect of patient confidentiality.

Do not contact the wards directly.

During normal working hours please contact the Communications Team.  Outside these hours please telephone the switchboard on 0161 789 7373 and ask to speak to the Senior Manager On-call.

Photo Library

The Communications Team manages a portfolio of images of Trust buildings and staff via Flickr.  If you are looking for a particular image and are unable to find it, please contact the Communications Team.

Major incidents

Should a local, regional or national major incident occur, the Trust has contingency plans that include arrangements for the media.  A press centre will be established and the media will be notified on arrival at the hospital site. The press centre will be set up for press conferences and regular updates you will be provided alongside any opportunities for interviews (when appropriate).

Depending on the type of incident, we will decide at the time whether photographs/filming will be permitted and how this will be facilitated.

We will also utilise this website and our Twitter account (@SalfordRoyalNHS) to provide the latest updates.
