Simon Featherstone
Divisional Director of Nursing for Clinical Support Services and Tertiary Medicine
Simon trained at Charing Cross School of Nursing, London, qualified 1991. He spent a year working on a Renal Medicine ward at CXH before moving to Guy’s Hospital, London to take up a band 5 post in ICU.
He stayed in ICU initially at Guy’s then at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Trust when the two hospitals merged and the next 12 years culminated in him becoming Lead Nurse for Critical Care at Guy’s & St Thomas’. In 2004 he took up the post of Head of Nursing for Surgery at Guy’s & St Thomas’ and in 2008 moved to Lewisham Hospital as Head of Nursing Development and Quality.
He moved to Salford Royal in February 2009 into his current position.
Julie Molyneaux
Divisional Director of Nursing for Neurosciences and Renal
Julie qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1984 after undertaking her nurse training at Salford. Julie has progressed through the various nursing grades within the hospital, holding positions of Staff Nurse, Ward Sister, Ward Manager, Matron and Lead Nurse, predominantly within the field of Surgical and High Dependency Nursing.
Her role of Assistant Director of Nursing for General Surgery, Critical Care and Theatres, enabled her to support the Trust's vision of "Safe, Clean & Personal Care" by providing managerial and professional leadership to the nursing workforce across the division, whilst having accountability for ensuring the delivery of quality driven patient centred, safe care.
Julie is married and has two daughters.
Peter Murphy
Divisional Director of Nursing for Surgery
Peter commenced his nursing career in 1987 and qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1991. He has 20 years experience within the critical care speciality.
He joined Salford Royal in 2007, initially as a Nurse Consultant for Critical Care and following promotion as the Assistant Director of Nursing for Quality Improvement.
He is passionate about the nursing profession and is determined that nursing should be recognised for the vital role it plays in the delivery of safe, clean and personal care.
He has led a number of initiatives within Salford Royal including a collaborative project to improve the management of acutely unwell patients which won a BUPA Foundation Award in 2009 and a HSJ Award for Quality and Productivity in 2010.
Christine Pearson
Divisional Director of Nursing for Salford Health Care
Chris
trained at North Manchester General Hospital
and qualified as an RGN in 1984 and rotated through general medicine, surgery
and intensive care as a staff nurse. In 1986 she undertook district nurse training
and was a district nurse in Rochdale until
1997.
Following
positions in education, professional development and locality management she
moved to North Manchester Primary Care Trust as Associate Director of Nursing,
having responsibility for professional leadership, implementation of the
Quality Improvement Strategy and Quality Labelling of community services.
With
a keen interest in patient safety, she completed the IHI Patient Safety Officer
Course in 2009 and took the lead on patient safety initiatives within community
services.
Chris
moved to Salford Royal in April 2011 to her current position.
