The aim is to help restore or maintain respiratory function, movement strength, mobility and functional ability to patients who have had an illness or surgery and help them achieve the most appropriate, timely and safe discharge solution for that patient.

Clinicians will refer patients requiring ongoing physiotherapy input to the relevant outpatient, intermediate care or community service.

Physiotherapists assess and treat patients in a holistic manner communicating with other members of the MDT team to ensure that the patient achieves their goal of maximising their independence.
