Salford Royal Chief Executive awarded Honorary Doctorate

Salford Royal’s Chief Executive Sir David Dalton has been awarded with an Honorary Doctorate from Salford University.

The degree, A Doctor of Science, is one of the Highest Doctorates that can be awarded. The honorary degree is given to individuals who have made extensive contributions to a particular field – in Sir David’s case it was bestowed in recognition of his commitment to improving public healthcare.

Sir David accepted his degree at the University’s graduation ceremony, which took place in the Lowry Centre. Following an introduction by Professor Maggie Pearson, Pro Vice Chancellor Public Benefit and Dean of the College of Health and Social Care, he was invited to address the audience of graduates and their families.

Of his degree Sir David said: “It was a huge honour to receive this degree. It was a great day, made all the more special as later in the week I attended the graduation of my son from Leeds University. I was able to experience two graduation events within a few days – one as a distinguished guest and the second as a proud parent.”
