World AIDS Day: Local HIV testing availability

World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died.

There will be a service of remembrance in the Trust’s chapel at 12 noon on Thursday 1 December.

But what about after World AIDS Day?

Although World AIDS Day is a great opportunity to talk about HIV, it is important to keep the momentum going all year round.

LGBT Foundation offers a range of rapid HIV clinics for men who have sex with men, throughout the week at their building in Manchester city centre and in Salford. They'll have a brief chat about exposure and risk before taking a small sample of blood using a lancer (a small pin prick on the finger), which will then be placed on a testing strip. In total your appointment will last approximately 45 minutes, and you'll find out your results in the appointment itself.
