Five stars for Salford Royal's food hygiene

Huge congratulations to Salford Royal’s Catering Team whose hard work has enabled the Trust to retain its 5-star food hygiene rating.

 

Environmental Health Inspectors carried out an unannounced visit to the Trust’s newly refurbished In-Patient Kitchen recently and after considering certain criteria such as cleanliness, policies and food preparation and storage practices, they confirmed that the team was delivering the highest standards of food safety for patients.

 

Whilst they provided some recommendations to help the Trust improve even further, the overall view of the inspectors was the Trust’s newly refurbished In-Patient Kitchen gave the catering team a fantastic environment in which to carry on delivering such high standards.

 

Work to refurbish the In-Patient Kitchen started in 2016 and concluded just days before the inspection. The £1.4million investment has created a modern, state of the art kitchen providing:

  • A Cook Freeze regeneration food service
  • All special and category diets from one supplier
  • Over 21 meals that are completely free of all 14 recognised allergens
  • Energy Dense Menu with over 25 choices
  • A Dementia friendly menu
  • Site based fresh cook Diet Chef
  • A new 2 week menu cycle
  • Choice from over 200 main dishes as opposed to 50 previously
  • Retained In-House cold meal production
  • A new menu management system that will be rolled out to all wards ensuring patients get their choice at every meal service.
