A coronavirus case has been confirmed in Bury. The patient who is a Bury resident has been taken to a specialist NHS infection centre.
The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group is working closely with colleagues at Bury Council, Public Health England and other health colleagues to ensure that the people of Bury are protected and kept well informed.
Public Health England are tracing anyone who has been identified as at risk and will advise people and places with any action they are required to take.
If you have not been contacted by Public Health England you do not need to take any action at this time.

Do
- cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
- put used tissues in the bin immediately
- wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
- try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
Don't
- touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
- Symptoms of coronavirus
The symptoms of coronavirus are:
- a cough
- a high temperature
- shortness of breath
But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness.
The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.
